what I'm listening to

Oh my love of repeating continues...

Camera Obscura
French Navy

I. Am. In. Love. With. This. Song. I seriously can't get enough of it. It's so romantic although the video would lead you to believe that it doesn't work out so well in the end. This is how love feels. Whimsical. A rush. A head spinning, dress twirling adventure. If only it could last.... Enjoy

a slight obsession

I watched Annie Hall back in college and instantly fell in love. I went on a Woody Allen bender. My friend and I rented every film of his that we could find and although not all of them were superb, most were at the very least entertaining. It was agreed that at times watching his films can become rather painful. His neurosis and constant paranoia of Jew hating can only be endearing for so long. Perhaps it's best to watch in moderation. Having said that, he is one of my favorite writer/director/actor/comics. I love his love of New York and that he plays the jazz clarinet in Manhattan on a regular basis. I love that he calls a therapist an analyst and openly admits that he has been seeing one for most of his life. I love that he is deep, dark and twisty. I love that this quirky little man has been with some of the most beautiful women of his time. I'm going to slide over the fact that he caught himself in a rather compromising situation with his then girlfriend Mia Farrows' adopted daughter, now his wife. Keep in mind,  I don't want to date the man but meeting him for a drink at a dive jazz bar in Manhattan sounds pretty amazing. Here is a list of some of my favorite films.

mixin it up

Every once in a while a girl has got to mix it up. Can I still call myself a girl at 30? I'm going to say yes. I went and got a hair cut Saturday and although I am still adjusting to the change, I do like it. Bangs. I got bangs. I must admit I do look a little hipster ish when I wear my glasses. I am most definitely not a hipster, fyi. My look was based on a pic I saw of Taylor Swift. Here is my inspiration.

Inspiration

I am in desperate need of some inspiration today. It has been one of those weeks with some of the lowest of lows. I have been beyond lazy the past few weeks. So lazy that I have been using old, bad shampoo and conditioner because I don't want to go buy new stuff. So lazy that I don't think I have dressed in more then a t shirt or hoodie and jeans to work. Yes, I am lucky that such attire is even acceptable at my job. Speaking of work, I don't really like having to do it. In fact, I am dreaming of winning the lottery and jaunting off somewhere with a beautiful beach and frozen libations. I need to get out of this funk! Here are some pretty things.

the big 2 9!

Thursday was my birthday and my best friends rented a limo for us to take out Saturday night. It was so much fun that we all agreed you need to be chauffeured around more often. I had everyone over to my house first for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres then we headed out and went bar hopping for a few hours. Here are a few pics. I also have to post the pic that was waiting for me Thursday at work... I heart my coworkers! And my celeb crush Ryan Gosling!

Quote of the day

"Who has not asked himself at some time or another, am I a monster, or is this what it means to be a person?" Clarice Lispector

I love getting to work every morning and opening my "quotes of the day" on my igoogle. Sometimes they can be inspirational or like this one today, they can make you ponder for a while. I would like to think that everyone has had this thought before. I know I question myself and my actions daily and hope that I'm not affecting anyone too negatively. I'm quite aware of my character flaws but it's not always easy to consciously control them. What makes you a monster?

Happy New Year!

I apologize for my absence over the past few weeks but I have been super busy. I hope everyone's hangovers have subsided by now! I guess the Mayans were wrong, although I didn't follow the hoopla closely but all in all NYE was pretty fun this year. My friend Leslie had a very small party at her house and we ended up playing the Michael Jackson Wii game into the early hours. I made champagne cocktails and she served a few hors d'oeuvre for everyone. I must admit that there is nothing appealing about going out on NYE, especially to have a nice dinner. I used to loathe working in the restaurant biz during the Holidays because it is all about quantity not quality. From the moment you arrive, everything that can be done to make sure you are in and out quickly will be done and it leaves you feeling like a number. I was so happy when Leslie told me she was thinking about having a little party because it was exactly how I wanted to ring in the new year.
